Daniel Inouye/ 442 Veteran, US Senator
A veteran of the 442nd Regimental Combat Team and Medal of Honor recipient, Daniel Inouye is the current President Pro-Tempore and longest-standing senior member of the US Senate.
Born in 1924 in Hawaii, Daniel Inouye currently serves as the President Pro-Tempore and longest-standing senior member of the US Senate. Known for his distinguished record as a legislative leader and valor during World War II, Inouye is a veteran of the 442nd Regimental Combat Team and recipient of the nation’s most prestigious award, the Congressional Medal of Honor. Recognized by many to be a leading member of the Japanese American community, Inouye also serves as Chairman of the Senate Appropriations Committee and the Senate Defense Appropriations Subcommittee, focusing on matters of defense, national security, and the enhancement of life for military personnel and their families. Inouye hopes to achieve a safer world as well as provide assistance to the men and women who put their lives at risk to protect the United States.
